Pinkel's — Leadership Coaching Platform

Project Overview

Pinkel's is a digital hub for leadership coaching modules. The project became a case study in performance-first development: prioritizing real mobile user experience over heavy animation libraries, and integrating with the client's existing tools instead of forcing new infrastructure.

The Challenge

During testing, Framer Motion animations were visibly lagging on mid-range mobile devices — a serious problem for a platform whose audience browses primarily on phones. Additionally, the client already paid for a Typeform subscription to manage inquiries, so the solution had to integrate with their existing stack rather than replace it.

Our Solution

I replaced the heavy animation logic with lightweight custom CSS animations — visually equivalent transitions at a fraction of the runtime cost — which eliminated the mobile lag entirely. The client's existing Typeform handles inquiry logic seamlessly within the site flow. For the future, I proposed a Firebase migration path for better cost-efficiency and real-time data handling as the platform grows.

Development Process

1

Performance Audit

Profiled animation performance on real mid-range devices and identified the animation library as the mobile bottleneck.

2

Animation Strategy Rework

Redesigned the motion system around GPU-friendly custom CSS animations that preserve the visual experience.

3

Frontend Build

Developed the leadership module presentation in Next.js with a mobile-first layout approach.

4

Integration

Wired the client's existing Typeform subscription into the inquiry flow — zero new infrastructure cost.

5

Mobile QA & Launch

Validated smooth 60fps behavior across devices before shipping to production.

Key Features

Leadership coaching modules presented in a clean, scannable structure

Lightweight custom CSS animation system — no runtime library overhead

Mobile-first responsive design tuned for the platform's real audience

Typeform-powered inquiry flow using the client's existing subscription

Fast page loads with minimal JavaScript payload

Documented Firebase migration path for future scaling

Results & Business Impact

Eliminated all animation lag on mobile — the platform's primary device category

Reduced JavaScript payload by dropping the heavy animation library entirely

Saved the client recurring costs by building on their existing Typeform subscription

Delivered a future-proof roadmap toward Firebase for real-time features

Conclusion

Pinkel's demonstrates engineering judgment over tool loyalty: the best solution wasn't the trendiest library, but the one that made real users' phones feel fast. Performance is a feature — and on this project, it was the feature.
